Brief History of JLL

JLL came into existence in 1999 thanks to a merger deal between LaSalle Partners and Jones Lang Wootton. The company's full name is Jones Lang LaSalle. The newly merged company then had a global presence of over 4,000 employees across 33 countries. In 20018, JLL acquired Staubach Company. In 2011, the company merged with King Sturge in a deal worth £197 million. By 2016, JLL had purchased 80 companies and established over 100 offices globally. In 2017, JLL launched JLL Spark Division, which marked its expansion from traditional real estate to property technology.

In mid-2019, JLL purchased HFF in a takeover deal that was worth £1.65 billion. In 2021, JLL sold off its rental asset management software, Stessa, to Roofstock and acquired a minority interest in the company as part of the agreement. In 2011, JLL acquired Skyline AI. Later that year and in 2022, JLL purchased two property technology companies. In late 2021, it bought Building Engines, a property management software firm. In early 2022, JLL purchased Hank, an AI-based technology firm that specialised in improving homes’ energy efficiency.
