Siemens has a rich history which dates back to 1847. That year, Johann Georg Halske and Werner Von Siemens established Siemens & Halske. They invented the Telegraph, an equipment that used a needle to identify the sequence of letters instead of the morse code. The following year, the company built a long-distance telegraph line from Berlin to Frankfurt (a distance of 500km). Two years later, Siemens came to the UK by establishing an office in London. Werner Siemens’s younger brother. Carl Siemens took charge of the UK office. In 1855, the company expanded to Russia by establishing an office in St Petersburg, Russia. Siemens & Halske was incorporated in 1897. In 1903, the company merged some of its operations with Schuckert & Co., Nuremberg, to form Siemens-Schuckert.

1966 was a pivotal year in the company’s history because it was the year that Siemens-Schukert, Siemens & Halske, and Siemens-Reiniger- Werke merged to create Siemens AG. Since then, the company has strategically acquired certain companies to expand into other industries and grow its network.
