Your role
As part of the Water Environmental and Catchment Science team:
You will help the team in delivering professional advisory and technical services for a range of clients on schemes across the whole water cycle. Key areas the team works in include:
Catchment science and management
Flood and coastal risk management
Natural flood management
River restoration
River and reservoir engineering
Water resource management
You will assist in carrying out data analysis, baseline and feasibility assessments, field surveys, and option appraisals and designs for a range of river engineering and environmental enhancement schemes, using relevant software including desktop and mobile GIS applications. Through this, you will gain an understanding of the role of an environmental consultant in the Water industry and see firsthand how they operate in collaboration with partners, clients, and wider stakeholders.
From delivering critical new water infrastructure to advising on nature-based solutions and catchment restoration – the successful design, appraisal, and implementation of new schemes requires the integration of many disciplines.
You will have the opportunity to work alongside expert Arup colleagues from other disciplines such as Ecologists, Hydrogeologists, Hydrologists and Hydraulic Modellers, Civil and Geotechnical Engineers, Landscape Architects, Environmental Consultants, and Project Managers.

About you
To apply for this role you need to have the following eligibility criteria:
Candidates should be working towards a bachelor's and/or master's degree in Physical Geography, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, or Civil Engineering (or equivalents), ideally with an orientation towards the water environment and river/catchment management.
Successful candidates will have strong communication and teamwork skills, personal drive, and an enthusiasm for problem-solving.
Having existing skills and/or an interest in digital software and applications, including GIS and computer coding languages and scripting, is favorable.
