Your role

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Work on the implementation and validation of a multiscale materials modeling workflow starting from existing developments.
  • Investigate and document state-of-the-art, including testing existing software solutions.
  • Regularly present results and progress to internal stakeholders.
  • Work under the close supervision of a team member.

Training & development

This position aims to give the student relevant industrial research experience as a member of the office of the CTO development team focusing on multiscale materials modeling. In this role, the Intern Student will collaborate with expert professionals to design and implement workflows to link atomistic to continuum simulation to quantify the effect of materials microstructures on hydrogen diffusion in metals.

About you

Minimum education/certification requirements and experience:

  • A degree in material science, physics, an engineering discipline, or a closely related subject.
  • Experience with Python (preferred), or other programming languages.
  • Basic experience and understanding of atomistic materials modeling (Density Functional Theory, Molecular Dynamics, etc.)

Preferred qualifications and skills:

  • Basic experience/understanding of multiscale materials modeling for diffusion processes.  
  • Basic experience/understanding of Kinetic Monte Carlo simulations.
