The Mercedes Benz Story

The origin of Mercedes Benz can be traced to the signing of an Agreement of Mutual Interest between Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft and Benz & Cie. Initially, these companies went on with their separate automobile manufacturing and internal combustion engine businesses till 1926. Both companies eventually merged and became Daimler-Benz AG and mutually agreed that their factories brand their vehicles "Mercedes-Benz." This brand became the best-known thing about the automobile company. However, during the Second World War, the company designed and manufactured several engines for German submarines, tanks, and aircraft. Notable Nazis, Japanese, and Fascist Italian officials were some of the most popular users of the Mercedes-Benz 770 luxury car.

In 1998, Daimler-Benz merged in an exchange of shares with Chrysler to form DaimlerChrysler AG. The newly formed company was worth $38 billion (£33.3 billion). It was the most valuable cross-border deal in the world. In 2007, Daimler eventually sold Chrysler to Cerberus Capital Management. In 2017, Daimler went on a spree of strategic acquisitions and partnerships with budding automobile companies. Early this year, Daimler officially rebranded to Mercedes-Benz Group. This company came to the UK in 1986.
