Brief History of Colliers

Colliers came into existence in 1976 due to a merger deal between Glynn Lynch & McHarg and Jones Lang Wootten & Sons. Two years later, the newly merged company agreed to a merger deal with Tony Petty & Associates, a Hong-Kong based firm. In 1984, Colliers had another merger with Macaulay Nicolls and then merged with American Realty Services Group the following year. In 2010, another merger happened between Colliers and FirstService, and Dylan Taylor assumed the office of president and CEO of the US operations of the firm.

In mid-2010, Colliers entered into a partnership with Long Island-based real estate company Sutton & Edwards. In 2015, Colliers and FirstService dissolved their merger and became separate publicly traded firms. In 2017, Colliers purchased a Washington-based tenant representation firm, Serten Advisors, LLC. In 2019, the company purchased Synergy Property Development Services, a real estate firm in India. In mid-2020, Colliers purchased Maser Consulting PA, a New Jersey-based engineering services company.
