The origins of this company date back to the late 19th century. In 1886, John Stith Pemberton, an American pharmacist, produced the original coca-cola drink. It was a medicinal drink primarily sold in drugstores. It was prescribed for the alleviation of headaches. Frank Robinson, Pemberton’s bookkeeper, was responsible for creating the logo and naming the beverage. The drink's name - Coca-Cola, was derived from an alliteration of the two primary ingredients, namely coca leaves and kola nuts. When Pemberton took a break, Robinson was in charge of the production, promotion, and sale of the drink. In 1892, Asa Griggs Candler bought the Coca-Cola brand and recipe and established the Coca-Cola company in Atlanta, Georgia.

Three years later, after its establishment in Atlanta. The drink was already being sold in every state in the union. In 1919, the Trust Company of Georgia, owned by Ernest Woodruff, purchased the Coca-Cola company. In 1948, Coca-Cola was a force to be reckoned with, as it owned a whopping 60% of the beverage market share. However, when new rivals entered the market, Coca-Cola's market share reduced to roughly 22%. From 1960, the company started making several strategic acquisitions to extend its network. One of its most notable acquisitions is the purchase of Columbia Pictures for $693 million (£579.6 million). Coca-Cola came to the UK in 1900.
