Brief History of Capita

Capita came into existence in the late 20th century. This company was established as an arm of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy in 1984. Three years later, a management buy-out gave Capita its independence. During the breakout, the firm had a workforce of 33 employees. In 1991, Capita became a publicly traded firm and was listed on the London Stock Exchange. Rod Aldridge was the Executive Chairman of the firm during this time. He stepped down in 2006. He was replaced by Paul Pindar. The company gradually grew to the status of an FTSE 100 member by this time. In late 2009, Capita announced that it would move Capita Financial Group, a subsidiary, to Leeds.

Two years later, Capita purchased Ventura for £65 million. This move strengthened Capita's customer service operations. In 2013, the firm purchased Fire Service College from its previous owner for £10 million. The following year, Pindar stepped down from the leadership mantle and was succeeded by Andy Parker. In 2015, Capita purchased a customer call centre firm, Avocis. In late 2017, Johnathan Lewis succeeded Andy Parker as the head of Capita. In 2018, Capita made a call to raise £701 million after it incurred huge losses in 2017. In 2019, Capita rebranded as a living wage employer and changed its logo.

Culture & Vibe

Capita's culture is founded on the strength of four core values, namely Open (being transparent, honest, and respectful), Ingenious (believing nothing is impossible to achieve), Collaborative (believes in achieving more through collective efforts), and Effective (it cares about doing the best job). Capita is an employee-centric organisation, a trait that makes this firm the best place for fresh graduates and interns. The company ensures that its employees are well-treated and that their interests are considered. Capita embraces everyone in its employee pool regardless of their ethnicities, religions, disability, sexuality, gender, socioeconomic background, gender identity, etc. The firm's dress code is business professional.
