Atos was founded in 1997 from a merger between a couple of French IT firms. Three years later, it joined forces with Origin BV, a Dutch-based firm, to form Atos Origin. In 2002, Atos Origin purchased KPMG Consulting. A couple of years later, it acquired SchlumbergerSema. In 2010, the company stole the headlines after making a major announcement that it would acquire Siemens IT Solutions and Services. The deal was finished the following year.
