Brief History of Arm

Arm was established in late 1990 as Advanced RISC Machines. It was founded as a joint venture among three tech companies, namely Apple, Acorn Computers, and VSLI Technology. Each of these firms contributed something to begin the company. Apple provided the funds for the start-up, Acorn provided the human resources, and VSLI provided the tools needed to get the new company up and running. The purpose of this new venture was to enhance the development of the Acorn RISC Machine Processor. It wasn't until three years after inception that the firm started realising profits.

In 1994, the firm opened offices in Tokyo and Silicon Valley. Three years later, Arm broke into the disk drive market by investing in Palmchip Corporation. The following year, the company changed its name from Advanced RISC Machines to Arm Ltd. In 1998, the company was listed as a publicly traded company on the London Stock Exchange and NASDAQ. In 2010, the firm joined forces with five other renowned tech companies to form Linaro, which was a non-profit open-source data engineering firm. The company has been on a series of acquisitions and divestments from the turn of the 21st century till date.

Culture & Vibe

Arm Ltd has a fun, and exciting work culture that's founded on three core values, namely Do Great Things (working with speed, being open to challenges, and finding solutions to problems), We, Not I (the firm believes in winning as a team and not on its own), and Be Your Brilliant Self (skilful individuality, inclusion, and performance). From these values, it’s apparent that the firm has a terrific corporate culture that makes every worker feel a sense of belonging regardless of their cultural background, race, gender, sexuality, etc. The firm also prides itself on collaboration, and this has created a great deal of harmony and has forged lasting relationships between employees. The company’s dress code is smart casual.
